Welcome to the Glaucoma Network website

The Glaucoma Clinical and Research Network (Glaucoma-NET) was established in 2021 to improve diagnosis and treatment with the aim of preserving and maximising the sight of people with glaucoma through a range of activities including knowledge-sharing and development of clinical services. These are geared towards reducing vision loss and blindness caused by glaucoma.

Register to become a member of the Glaucoma-NET and to ensure that you can access Glaucoma-NET DISC sessions.

This website enables Glaucoma-NET members to participate in online knowledge-sharing activities and access resources to help them improve their glaucoma services. It is a platform for convening meetings and enhancing collaboration and sharing of information within and between participants. It also provides information, resources and publications relevant to health workers who are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with glaucoma, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). If an institution would like to have a LINK partner (see LINKS – ICEH (lshtm.ac.uk) for more information), please register your interest with us through the Contact page.

About Us

Glaucoma-NET was established in 2021 with the aim of preserving and maximising the sight of people with glaucoma by improving diagnosis and treatment.  It is managed as part of the International Centre for Eye Health, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
We work closely with all stakeholders including Ministries of Health (MoH), patients, clinicians, researchers, and NGOs, to ensure lasting and sustainable impact.
We work in a way that strengthens the eye health system sustainably, through knowledge-sharing and bringing stakeholders together to plan and develop glaucoma services appropriate to each setting.

Glaucoma-NET Objectives for 2024:

To roll out the Simulation based Trabeculectomy Training Programme across Sub-Saharan Africa in order to equip ophthalmologists with the surgical skills required for delivering high quality glaucoma surgery.

Please do share the resources you may have developed so that we can expand and develop a comprehensive skills training programme.  The Glaucoma Toolkit is available in the Resources section.

To develop regional data sets of clinical practice which clinicians can input real world data on characteristics of glaucoma patients and outcomes of interventions.  In future, this will highlight trends and areas of need and provide benchmarks from which we can together, develop optimal service delivery protocols.”
